The new "smart" feature in 8.5.1 is great.
It save network bandwidth. But it does not save time when replicating a huge ( logical size ) database to another server.
I have created a db1 an server 1 and DAOS enabled the database. Then I created a new document with a 10MB Attahment in db 1. I duplicated the document ( copy & past ) 2.000 times and the logical size grew up to 20GB while the physical size was around 12MB. Then I created a new replica via adminp on server 2. It seems that it takes the same time to replicate only the 12MB to server 2 as it would take to replicate all of 20GB.
Is the hash of the attachment cached somewhere or is it calculated new for each document?
